Photo Red Light Ticket

The law requires cities in Oregon to meet certain requirements in order to issue photo-red light tickets. Most, if not all, of the photo red light ticketing stop lights have been out of compliance since 2020. Therefore, the tickets which have been issued by these lights have not been legitimate.

The Smith Law Office is pursuing class action law suits against every city in Oregon which has been issuing illegitimate tickets to restore the money which was taken by these cities.

If you were issued a ticket for a red light violation in Oregon, between 2024 and now, you may be a part of one of these lawsuits. If you are a part of one of these class action lawsuits, you will be notified in the coming months. Updates will be provided periodically on this page to allow those affected to have the most current information.

Because of the number of people affected by these lawsuits, individual calls and emails may not be returned. Updates will come via mail and posted on this website. Thank you for your understanding.

  • October 5, 2026: Traffic Signal camera at E. Stewart and E. Barnett in Medford. On September 21, 2026 the Oregon District Court for Jackson County ruled the City of Medford was required to time the yellow lights using the Extended Kinematic Equation ("EKE") as the recommended method prescribed by the ITE. The City of Medford has admitted not using the EKE in timing its lights. This is a huge win allowing our class action lawsuit against the City of Medford to proceed. We are now waiting on the Court to rule on the Certification of the Class.
